Elida Mayor Duward Dixon was sentenced to 12 months of probation Wednesday related to a domestic dispute that took place in June 2011.
Deputy 9th Judicial District Attorney Brian Stover said Wednesday was a continuation of a plea and disposition hearing for Dixon, 47, who was charged with false imprisonment, aggravated assault, and use of a telephone to intimidate.
Stover said Dixon entered an Alford plea, meaning he did not admit guilt but acknowledged the state had enough evidence to convict him, for the charge of using a telephone to intimidate, a misdemeanor crime. Stover said the other charges were dropped.
Attempts to contact Dixon were unsuccessful Wednesday night.
Dixon was sentenced to six months of supervised probation to be followed by six months of unsupervised probation.
According to published reports, on June 29, 2011, the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office met with a 24-year-old woman identified as Dixon’s girlfriend.
The woman told officers that she attempted to move out and leave Dixon when he pulled her back into his home and threatened to kill himself.
