Roosevelt County inmate escaped briefly

A Roosevelt County inmate briefly escaped Wednesday morning during a hearing at Magistrate Court, according to the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office official.

Fabian Romero, 22, made it about 30 yards before being captured, according to Chief Deputy Malin Parker.

Parker said Romero broke from a transport guard’s restraint inside of the court area and ran to the outside of the building before being captured.

Romero, who was charged with battery on a peace officer, will also be now charged with an escape attempt, according to Parker.
