Stanley Livengood is setting up his new office at the Roosevelt County Enterprise Center on Monday. Livengood was selected as the new director of the Roosevelt County Community Development Corp.

His most recent job was serving as the grants manager for the Alamo Area Council of Governments, near San Antonio, Texas.

Livengood likes to read, write, and is a huge Spurs fan.

What do you hope to accomplish as director for the Roosevelt County Community Development Corp.?

On the general level I am here to promote regional growth for the citizens of Roosevelt county. Specifically I want to get input from the community on what are the best ways to do this and find out what is important.

How has your past experiences prepared you for your new job?

I was an economic development director when I was in Virginia and from an educational stand point I took a lot of classes on economics. I still feel the personal approach will never grow old. I want to learn from the community and I will ask what the community needs and not tell them what I think it needs.

Why did you want to be the director of the RCCDC?

The most important reason is the impression of the city of Portales. It is refreshing to find a community that invests in themselves. They want to make important things happen.

What do you like about Portales so far?

I still have a lot to learn about Portales, but the two things that have made an impression on me so far are the Roosevelt Brewing Company and Oasis State Park.

Who came with you to Portales?

I have my dog, Joker, with me. He is a Pomeranian and I had to find a place that would allow pets.
