Early and absentee voting in Tuesday’s election wasn’t as popular as the Clovis mayoral election two years ago.
At the close of early voting Friday, 78 absentee ballots were cast and another 896 voters cast ballots in early voting, according to City Clerk LeighAnn Melancon. Early voting stopped at 5 p.m.
Melancon said in the 2012 mayoral election some 160 absentee and 989 early ballots were cast.
The city has 18,658 registered voters.
Voting on election day Tuesday is from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at any one of four polling places under the city’s new convenience center voting system. The four voting sites are:
• Colonial Golf Course, 1300 Colonial Parkway.
• Youth Recreation Building, 1504 E 7th.
• Roy Walker Community Center, 316 W. 2nd St.
• Trinity United Methodist Church, 1320 W 21st St.
