Eastern New Mexico University will host its first Writers’ Retreat June 2-13, according to an ENMU press release.
Writers Jeff Parker (Ovenman) and Kevin Coval (Schtick) will teach daily workshops in poetry and fiction.
Public Readings and music performances, barbecues and field trips will be held in the evenings and the weekend.
The retreat is open to all aspiring writers in the community.

Organizers are offering the David L. Stone full tuition scholarship, and two partial scholarships to applicants.
Anybody who would like to attend the retreat can send one short story, 1,000 to 4,000 words, or three poems to:

Entries must be postmarked by April 15. Winners will be announced April 25. Winning entries will be published by El Portal, the literary journal of ENMU.
