Roosevelt County Commissioners were welcomed by Roosevelt County Detention Center Administrator David Casanova for a tour of the detention center facility Wednesday morning as part of their regular commission meeting.
Commissioners were shown the inner workings of the facility and had a chance to see the center’s recent upgrades.
Casanova touted the updated locks that have been installed on 19 of the detention center’s doors. He said the previous locks had been in use since the 1980s.
Corrections officer Lt. Keith Parrish said the facility has about 19 more doors to update pending funding.
The new locks feature green and red lights that indicate when the doors are locked and unlocked.
Commissioners were also shown the inmates day rooms and the master control center. Parrish said the master control center has a touch screen that allows the operator to open and close all doors in the facility and controls the movements of officers, inmates, and visitors.
