DENVER — Junior Amber Saiz earned all-region status on Saturday with a 19th-place finish in the NCAA Division II South Central Region cross country meet, hosted by Metro State.
Saiz finished the 6K women’s race in 23 minutes, 40 seconds. The top 25 finishers in both men’s and women’s competition earn all-region status.
The Zias finished 10th out of 18 teams in the meet with 231 points, while the Greyhounds were ninth of 20 men’s teams with 275 points. The top six teams and three individuals not on qualifying teams advance for both men and women to national competition on Dec. 6 at Louisville, Ky.
Senior Kevin Roa posted the Hounds’ top finish, placing 38th in a 10K time of 33:59.
Adams State swept both team championships, and also had the individual winners in Kevin Batt for the men (31:45) and Maura O’Brien for the women (22:15).
