• Last time out: The Falcons beat Sul Ross State 104-82 on Wednesday in their home opener at Odessa, Texas. The Hounds edged Harding 76-73 on Saturday in West Texas A&M’s Thanksgiving Classic on a 3-pointer by junior G John Gilliam at the buzzer.

• Last meeting: In the team’s only previous matchup, the Hounds beat UTPB 52-41 at Greyhound Arena on Nov. 30, 2009.

• Of note: ENMU, playing its home opener tonight, is 24-6 in home openers since joining NCAA Division II in the mid-1980s. … The Falcons lead the South Central Region in scoring at 101.6 ppg and have gone over 100 three times, while allowing 76 ppg. Their only loss was at Fort Lewis (101-97). … Five players are scoring in double figures for UTPB, led by senior G Phadarius Taylor (17.8 ppg). He’s also averaging 9.4 rpg. … The team is shooting 56 percent from the floor and 48 percent (47-of-98) from 3-point range. UTPB has 99 assists compared with 77 turnovers so far. … The teams have a rematch on Dec. 13 in Odessa. It’s one of three non-conference home-and-home series for the Hounds this season (Colorado State-Pueblo, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology).

• Last time out: The Zias lost at Lubbock Christian 101-49 on Saturday in LCU’s Thanksgiving Classic. The Miners haven’t played since losing to Kansas State 72-43 on Tuesday in the Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The final two days of that event were canceled.

• Last meeting: The Miners beat ENMU 71-34 at El Paso in December 2012.

• Of note: The Zias have another Division I exhibition on tap Thursday at New Mexico State. ENMU dropped a preseason exhibition at New Mexico 61-49. … The Miners lead the all-time series 13-2. All but three of the games were played before 1990. … UTEP posted the 500th win in the program’s 41-year history (500-606) at home against NMSU 78-73 on Nov. 14. The Miners are 2-0 at home this season. … The team’s only double-figure scorer is 5-9 junior G Camesha Turner (15.3 ppg). … The last time UTEP lost back-to-back non-conference games was in December 2011. … Coach Keitha Adams is in her 14th season at UTEP and has had a solid run, winning Conference USA regular-season titles in 2008 and 2012 and the C-USA tourney crown in 2012. Prior to this season, she received a six-year contract extension after leading the Miners to an NIT tournament runnerup finish in 2013.
