27th Special Operations Wing Public AffairsThe annual holiday parade here will take place Dec. 5, beginning at 5 p.m. on D.L. Ingram Street in front of the medical group.
Air Commandos and family members are encouraged to come out and join in the festivities.
Upon the final note of retreat, floats will make their way through base housing; heading down Olympic Boulevard, up Arcadia, across Hiroshima Street and back down Quadrant Avenue toward Olympic for the final stretch of the parade route toward the Landing Zone.
With floats at their final destination, the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place in front of the club. Cannon’s chief group and first sergeant council will be passing out free hot chocolate and cookies to those in attendance; Santa Claus is also scheduled to make an appearance during the event.
“This is the perfect time of year to bring our Air Commando families together and remind us of the important things in our lives,” said Master Sgt. Marvin Jimerson, 27th Special Operations Maintenance Squadron first sergeant. “We are a busy wing, but times like this allow us to create an environment for our Airmen and families to thrive.”
There will be parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis near the Landing Zone. For additional parking, members are encouraged to use the Exchange and Commissary parking lots.
The annual parade will coincide with First Friday at the club; attendees will be able to purchase additional food items while kicking off the holiday season.
