Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The Clovis city commission will meet 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.
Agenda items include:
• Appointment of representatives for the Animal Control Task Force. Eight citizens have either expressed interest or applied to serve on the task force. The previous membership included a commissioner from each district, three at-large citizens, and a representative from Cannon Air Force Base.
• Consideration of appointment procedure for the Eastern New Mexico Utility Water Authority. A resolution would set standards for Clovis to adopt when selecting the city’s representation on the authority, responsible for the construction and eventual operation of the Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System.
Clovis has three members on the seven-member board, each with two-year terms.
The resolution states the commission would prefer the appointment of existing city commissioners to those positions.
• Approval of an ordinance covering landfill disposal fees. Effective Jan. 1, the general tipping fee will be $35 per ton with a $4 minimum, with lower fees for demolition debris ($13/ton) and green waste ($21/ton). Higher fees apply for categories that include asbestos, ash, sludge, industrial, chemical spills, between $42 (ash) and $77 per ton (asbestos)
• Various quarterly budget transfers.
• Appointment of Patsy Delk as a Curry County representative on the city’s parks, recreation and beautification committee.
