Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

• Household members: 6
• Children: 5
• Special circumstance: This grandmother is raising five children including one with a learning disability. She is taking care of them as a result of her daughter’s recent incarceration. The three boys are ages 8, 11 and 12, and the two girls are ages 5 and 7. The grandmother is disabled and dependent on oxygen to survive. She is barely able to feed the family let alone provide gifts for Christmas.
• Who’s helped: More than 200 families who’ve asked the Salvation Army to help make Christmas special.
• Donations: Clovis, can be dropped off at the Clovis News Journal, 521 Pile St., or mailed to P.O. Box 1689, Clovis, NM 88102. Portales, can be dropped off at the Portales News-Tribune, 101 E. 1st St., or mailed to P.O. Box 848, Portales, NM, 88130. Envelopes should be clearly marked “Empty Stocking Fund.” Checks must be payable to The Salvation Army.
Contributions will be forwarded to the Salvation Army office, 317 E. Second St., Clovis, or gifts may be purchased for specific children under 12 by choosing an angel tag off special trees located at North Plains Mall, the Curry County Courthouse and Diamonds Evermore. Toys can be dropped off with their angel tag at any of those locations and the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce.
