1974: Two men in ski masks, one carrying a small handgun, robbed three Taco Bell employees at closing time. Clovis police said the robbers did not take any money from the cash register, but stole $60 from the employees.
1967: “Helen” left “Harry” a personal message in the classified section of the Clovis News-Journal: “It’s too late now. Besides, you would never buy me anything I wanted.”
1956: Two parents — a 42-year-old mother and 62-year-old father — were arrested by Clovis police for failing to enforce their children’s school attendance. Each posted $250 bond and were released from Clovis’ jail.

2004: Officials were encouraging area residents to protect themselves from identity theft. District Attorney Matt Chandler said 10 cases of ID thefts had been reported to his office in the past year. Most produced a paper trail, he said, and seven of the cases had resulted in convictions.

1962: The State theater in Clovis was promoting its newest movie, “The Pigeon that took Rome.” “All pigeons will be admitted free,” newspaper advertising reported. “Human beings will pay regular prices ... It’s a bargain in laughs at any price.”
