Abengoa officials have said it “has not reached any agreement with Natural Chem Group” for the purchase of its Portales plant.
Natural Chem Group officials said the Houston-based energy company has intentions to acquire the plant as part of a plan to begin production of ethanol, biodiesel, glycerin, liquid natural gas and compressed natural gas.
Natural Chem Group is talking with state agencies about the specifics of doing business in New Mexico and has not made a final decision to set up its operation in Portales, according to Roosevelt County Community Development Corp. Director Stan Livengood.
Livengood said Natural Chem Group is still in the process of acquiring financing for the project.
