McDonald's to remove antibiotics from chicken

Staff report

New Mexico Public Interest Group (NMPIRG) reported in a press release last week that McDonald’s has announced it will curb the overuse of antibiotics in raising chickens that ultimately become McNuggets or other McDonald’s chicken products.

“This is a super-sized change for McDonald’s, and we’re lovin’ it,” NMPIRG Program Director Sean Foran said in the release. “They will signal to the marketplace a huge and growing demand for chicken raised without antibiotics.”

“We are very pleased with the healthy direction McDonald’s is continuing to take,” said John Snowberger, the owner of McDonald’s in Portales and Clovis, of he and his wife/co-owner Robyn Snowberger.
