Information on growing pumpkins and gourds, weight loss, and making custom designs with inks will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday, at 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday at noon.

Curt Jaynes owns and operates GardenSource Nursery & Landscaping in Portales and he’s going to talk about how to grow pumpkins and gourds and share some use tips. He’ll also tell how to identify the various products.

As a registered dietitian, Pat Baird says that people always ask her how they can feel better and lose weight. They’re often surprised by her answer. She’ll discuss her four top tips, and she says that real weight loss comes from a real plan. Baird lives in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Marisa Pawelko will give a rundown on what Vertigo is and how the optical effects are achieved. She’ll show samples of what it can be used for and show how to create custom designs with Vertigo and Tsukineko Inks. She is the spokesperson for Imagine Crafts & Tsukineko Inks and lives in San Miguel de Allendro, Mexico.

Information on creating ambiance in the home, tips to motivate a child to get to a healthy weight, and making tassels for lampshades will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m.

According to Jill Roe, consultant with PartyLite, it doesn’t take a design degree or a big budget to create ambiance in the home. She’ll show how to add a few simple pieces to create instant drama in any room. She lives in Houston, Texas.

Lisa Daniel is a certified kids’ nutrition specialist, and she will talk about the hazards of childhood obesity and suggest tips that parents can use to motivate the child to get to a healthy weight. Her company is 45Pounds and she’s from Grass Plains, Texas.

Ever wonder where designers get the perfectly colored tassels for their lampshades? Mary Maxwell, artist, designer and owner of Heart Enterprise in Roseville, California, will show how to make our own tassels, and the technique is very simple.

Oven Baked Pork Chops

• 4 lean 3 oz. pork chops

• 1/4 tsp. salt

• 1/2 tsp. pepper, divided

• 1 large egg

• 1 cup Italian or Panko (Japanese style) bread crumbs

• Butter flavored Pam Spray

Sprinkle pork chops evenly on both sides with salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Whisk egg in a shallow bowl and set aside. Combine breadcrumbs and remaining 1/4 tsp. pepper in bowl. Dip pork chops in eggs, and dredge in breadcrumb mixture. Arrange on wire rack coated with cooking spray in an aluminum foil lined pan. Lightly coat chicken on both sides with cooking spray. Bake at 400º F. for 45 minutes or until done.
