Borden: Domino crafts on coming show

Information on making hand-crafted leather purses and jewelry, using dominoes to make craft items and ways to use transfer art on clothing will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and at noon on Thursday. (All times are Mountain)

Creative Living

Artist, designer and model Monica Duran has created a collection of hand crafted leather purses and jewelry in addition to her artwork. These items all coordinate with her daughter’s designs, which she’ll tell about. She’s from Espanola.

Designer and crafter Shannon Bielke will show how to use regular dominoes and a few simple craft products and turn them into jewelry, books, ornaments and more. She owns a company in Payson, Arizona.

Dianna Effner is an artist and owns her own doll company in Jamestown, Missouri. She’s going to show several dolls wearing T-shirts and other garments that are decorated with transfer art. She’ll show how she uses various transfer sheets for her projects.

Information on working with unfinished furniture, painting on silk scarves and cooking with peanuts will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at noon on Tuesday and at 2 p.m. on Saturday. (All times are Mountain)

Furniture refinishing expert Bruce Johnson will show how to give a custom and colorful look to an unfinished nightstand — and provide a fun and creative project for the entire family. Johnson is a company representative in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.

Artist and author Carolyn Dahl will show how to transform fabric by painting a nature scene on silk scarves. Her ideas are included in her book, “Transforming Fabric & Natural Impressions.” Dahl is from Houston, Texas.

Gayle Stephenson represents the Texas Peanut Producers Board in Lubbock. She will discuss the nutritive value of peanuts and explain how peanuts are the perfect high-energy snack food.

Chocolate Peanut Volcano Cake

• 1 21.5 oz. pkg. brownie mix

• 1 16 oz. can whole berry cranberry sauce

• 1/3 cup hot fudge topping

• 1/3 cup smooth peanut butter

• 1/2 cup salted, roasted peanuts

Grease and flour a 9 1/4-inch quiche pan and an 8-inch square pan. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions. Spoon half the batter evenly in quiche pan and the other half in the square pan. Bake 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely. Cut brownies in the square pan into 1/2-inch cubes. Set aside. Place cranberry sauce in a small bowl; beat with a fork until smooth. Spread over brownie in quiche pan. Top with brownie cubes. Warm fudge sauce slightly and add peanut butter. Blend until smooth. Drizzle peanut fudge sauce over brownie cubes and sprinkle with peanuts. Cut into wedges to serve. Yield: 10 to 12 servings.
