Memorial stone orders ongoing

STAFF REPORT

The Roosevelt County War Memorial Committee announced last week that they are still accepting purchases for engraved stones for the Roosevelt County Courthouse war memorial.

Each engraved stone honors someone who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The memorial began as a project of the Portales High School class of 1958 and was originally dedicated on Memorial Day in 2012.

According to a Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce press release, the next installation for new stones will occur prior to Memorial Day on May 30, and orders must be placed before May 13.

The price for the 11.75-inch x 7.75-inch stone is $125 and includes up to five lines that can include things such as name, rank, dates of service, where served, etc.

A form to fill out for the inscription can be picked up at the chamber of commerce, 100 S. Ave. A, or downloaded at portales.com.
