Former Clovis, ENMU instructor to receive Hall of Fame honor

A former Clovis Municipal Schools teacher and Eastern New Mexico University instructor was introduced as one of two members in the next class of the New Mexico Activities Association Hall of Fame.

Lela Goar was introduced Tuesday, along with Rio Rancho Public Schools Athletic Director Bruce Carver, as the 2017 inductees.

The two will be honored at a March 9 luncheon and induction ceremony at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid and be introduced during a state basketball semifinal at The Pit later that evening.

Goar was honored for her work with Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. She spent 22 years as a teacher and FCCLA leader for CMS, followed by 16 years at ENMU. During her time at the university, she acted as the state's FCCLA administrator.

The NMAA Hall of Fame was established in 1976, and has so far inducted 100 individuals with at least 25 years of service - at least 20 of them in New Mexico - while helping establish regulations and procedures for various interscholastic education programs.
