Liberty University point guard John Dawson was named Wednesday as a nominee for the 2017 Allstate NABC Good Works Team, according to a release from an Allstate marketing representative.
Dawson, a 2013 Clovis High graduate, is one of 181 nominees for the community service award, now in its fifth season.
The release singled out Dawson for specific deeds, including donating meals to the homeless and volunteering at events such as Get Downtown, volunteering at One Community Church, the Virginia Special Olympics and TC Miller Elementary School and traveling to Costa Rica to spend time playing soccer and basketball with the children at the Holy Spirit Orphanage.
The nomination list will be pared down to 10 recipients — five from Division I and five from Divisions II, III and the NAIA — and announced in February.
