PORTALES — A Portales man was arrested Thursday on three counts of attempted criminal sexual penetration of a minor under 13 years old.
Lane Ellsworth, 24, is accused of intent to have sex with a 10-year-old girl. He remains in the Roosevelt County Detention Center without bond.
According to court records:
• In August, an undercover agent with the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office responded to Craigslist post from Ellsworth. The agent posed as the mother of a 10-year-old child.
• The agent continued email conversations with Ellsworth over the next few months regarding having sex with the fictional 10-year-old with Ellsworth sending the agent a pornographic picture of himself.
• Ellsworth and the agent agreed to meet Thursday at a park, where he was taken into custody.
It was not immediately known if Ellsworth had an attorney.
