Of note: Eldorado is 5-0 at home this season. … The Eagles beat the Lady Wildcats 64-42 for fifth place in Rio Rancho’s Mel Otero Invite. Senior G Sydney Candaleria scored 14 of her game-high 31 points in the final period, when the Eldorado outscored CHS 21-6 to break the game open. … Eldorado has a one-point win a week ago at Cleveland. … The Eagles’ losses this season were to Roswell High (43-40 at the Mel Otero) and, last week, to West Mesa (67-62) and La Cueva (42-34) in the Albuquerque Metro tournament at Del Norte H.S.

Last time out: Goddard won at Chaparral 73-39 on Saturday, while the Lady Rams edged former district rival Lovington 47-43 on the road on Friday night.
Of note: The Lady Rockets, who have struggled in recent years, are riding a solid group of upperclassmen to a good season so far. They’ve won four in a row and eight of nine, with the only loss during that time to rival Roswell High in Goddard’s holiday tournament. … Leading scorers for Goddard are senior Micaela Kolker (11.9 ppg) and junior Camryn Villalpando (11.1). Villalpando is also collecting a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game. … The win over Lovington was much-needed for the Lady Rams. They’d dropped five of six since beginning the season with eight consecutive victories. … Portales opens District 4-4A play on Friday at Moriarty.
