CLOVIS — The Clovis Municipal Schools Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. today at the school district’s administrative office at 1009 Main Street. A key item is discussion of a board regulation regarding student dress.
“The district encourages students to take pride in their attire as it relates to the school setting,” per the regulation’s introduction. “Students should dress in a manner that, in addition to the guidelines, takes into consideration educational environment, safety, health and welfare of self and others. When, in the judgment of the principal, the student’s appearance, mode of dress and/or cleanliness is distracting and disruptive to the educational process or constitutes a threat to safety or acceptable standards or sanitation or does not meet regulations, the student may be required to make the requested modifications.”
According to the meeting’s agenda, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Kerry Parker is slated to introduce the discussion.
Other agenda items include:
• Consideration of Quality of Education survey questions for parents / guardians
Among the proposed questions:
1. The Board of Education mission matches what is actually happening in the programs and the school does what it says it does?
2. My input is welcome and sought after?
3. The district has adequate early childhood programs for all students?
4. My child’s teacher is knowledgeable and skilled at presenting information?
5. The central office and site administration are responsive to calls?
