Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
New Mexico Sen. Pat Woods of Broadview has been reappointed to serve on the Senate Conservation Committee during the legislative session.
Woods said his priorities for the session include public lands reform, improving education and increasing economic opportunities for his district.
Woods has previously served on the Grady School Board, as well as the New Mexico Farm and Livestock county and state boards and the National Cattleman’s Beef Board.
The leadership of the New Mexico Senate also appointed Woods to serve on the Senate Corporations and Transportation Committee because of his expertise.
“Senator Woods’ perspective as a farmer and rancher in eastern New Mexico will be extremely valuable on both of the corporations and transportation committee and the Conservation Committee,” Senate Republican Leader Stuart Ingle of Portales said. “He has served on various local, state and national boards that give him a unique perspective that will benefit those committees and the state.”
Because Republicans are in a minority in the Senate, no Republican was appointed chairman of any of the Senate standing committees. As a result of last November’s election, there are currently 16 Republican senators and 26 Democratic senators in the New Mexico Senate.
Wood represents District 7, which includes Curry, Quay and Union counties.
