Clovis at Santa Fe High
When: 7 p.m. today in a District 2-6A game.
Records: Clovis (8-10, 1-1), Santa Fe High 12-6 (2-0).
Last time out: The Wildcats beat Manzano 72-60 at The Rock. while the Demons defeated La Cueva 68-51 at home.
Of note: Both teams have shown significant improvement over last season, when the Cats were 3-22 and the Demons went 9-17. Clovis edged Santa Fe High 58-57 in last year’s season opener on the road. … Saturday’s win means the Cats have matched their win total from the previous two seasons combined. … The Demons are 9-2 this season on their home floor. … Santa Fe High is on a three-game winning streak, the third time the Demons have done that this season. … So far, the teams have faced only one common opponent — La Cueva. The Cats edged the Bears 54-52 in the fifth-place game of the Albuquerque Academy Invitational on Dec. 10.
Ruidoso at Portales
When: 7 p.m. in a District 4-4A game at the Ram Athletic Center.
Records: Ruidoso (10-8, 1-0), Portales 11-6 (10).
Last time out: Both teams opened district play last week with wins, Ruidoso beating New Mexico Military 70-46 at home and Portales taking care of Moriarty 70-60 on the road.
Of note: Portales comes in on a seven-game winning streak. The Rams’ only losses came in the Littlefield … It’s only the Rams’ fifth home game of the season (4-0). The Warriors have gone 3-2 in road outings. … The Rams’ next outing is on Friday against New Mexico Military at Roswell in a district game.

Santa Fe High at Clovis

Records: Santa Fe High 7-11 (0-2), Clovis 8-10 (1-1).
Last time out: Saturday, the Lady Demons lost at La Cueva 74-57 while the Lady Cats won at Manzano 59-33.
Of note: The Lady Demons are 3-5 in road games. … Santa Fe High won four of five after an 0-4 start, but has never been able to reach the .500 mark. … The Lady Cats are 2-1 and Santa Fe High 2-2 against common opponents. Clovis has wins over St. Michael’s and Valencia and a loss to Roswell Goddard; Santa Fe High beat Valencia and lost to Goddard, and has split against St. Mike’s.
Ruidoso at Portales
When: 5:30 p.m. today at the Ram Athletic Center.
Records: Ruidoso 4-13 (0-0), Portales 11-6 (1-0).
Last time out: Ruidoso lost to West Las Vegas 72-52 on Thursday. The Lady Rams outlasted Moriarty 63-58 on the road in their district opener on Friday.
Of note: The Lady Warriors come in on a six-game losing streak, their second of the season. Their last win was a 50-43 decision over Navajo Pine in a holiday tournament in Albuquerque on Dec. 30. … PHS plays a 5:30 p.m. (MST) contest at Lubbock Christian on Saturday.
