Records: La Cueva 6-12 (2-2), Clovis 9-11 (2-2)

Last time out: Saturday, the Bears lost at Eldorado 66-48 while the Wildcats edged Sandia 59-57 in overtime in district play.

Of note: The win at Sandia was the first true road victory this season for the Cats (1-6). Clovis is 5-4 at home. … La Cueva is also 1-6 in road games this season, beating Sandia 59-44 last week in district play. … The Cats and Bears met for fifth place in the Albuquerque Academy Classic on Dec. 10, with Clovis winning 54-52 on senior G Taitt Kuchta’s 10-foot runner with four seconds left. It was the Cats’ first winning streak of any kind since December 2014. … The loss to Clovis sent the Bears on a four-game losing streak. They come into this one with four losses in a row again and eight in their last 10 games.

Last time out: Saturday, the Lady Wildcats lost at home to Sandia 53-33 while the Bears edged Eldorado 55-53 at home in a battle for the district lead.

Of note: This is only the fourth home outing for La Cueva (2-1), which comes in having won seven of its last nine games. … The leading scorer for the Bears is senior G Deloney Markham (11.8 ppg). She shoots 80 percent on the FT line (33-of-41). … The Bears are averaging 51 ppg. … La Cueva lost three in a row in one stretch during December, including blowout losses at Carlsbad (46-15) and Hobbs (50-20) on back-to-back nights.
