Hi-Plains Toastmasters

On Tuesday, Hi-Plains Toastmasters held its weekly meeting from 7 p.m.–8 p.m. at Wheatfields Senior Living Facility.

Member Brian Stover delivered a superb speech from his Competent Communicator series manual focused on describing the finer details of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Komm Susser Tod Composition (Come Sweet Death). Additionally, Mr. Stover delivered a superb table topics speech and was chosen by fellow club members for the top table topics speaker. Club member and meeting toastmaster for the night Jonathan Campos delivered closing remarks.

Toastmasters provides a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. Meetings are held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Wheatfields Senior Living Facility in Clovis in the second floor conference room.

Peanut Valley Toastmasters

On Jan. 26, Peanut Valley Toastmasters held its weekly meeting from 7 p.m.–8 p.m. at the KENW Broadcast Center in Portales.

Bailey Grady delivered a speech titled “The Breadwinner” and Paula Grady presented “My Constant Companion.” New member Kaleb Donovan won best speaker for his icebreaker, “My Life in Chapters.” Sergeant at Arms Kenny Welborn won best evaluator for his comments on Donovan’s speech. Guest Sidney Smith won best table topics for his impromptu speech on “Being Resilient.”
