Police investigating traffic accident that left child injured

CLOVIS — Police said Monday they are investigating a traffic accident that left a child hospitalized in Lubbock.

The child’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening, Clovis Police Lt. Daron Roach said.

At 3:45 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the area of Traver and Weston streets in Clovis regarding a child on a bicycle.

Clovis police said in a news release that Eileen De-Larosa was driving south on Traver when she approached the intersection as the child was traveling east on Weston.

Police said the woman’s vehicle struck the child as she made a turn.

The child, whose name was not released, was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center and later flown to Lubbock. Roach said the boy is about 10 years old.

Roach said no criminal charges have been filed in connection with the accident. He said no traffic citations have been issued.

De-Larosa could not be reached for comment.

The press release said the incident remains under investigation.
