When: 7 p.m. today at The Rock in a District 2-6A matchup.

Records: Sandia 9-13 (1-7 district), Clovis 10-14 (3-5)

First meeting: Jan. 28, the Wildcats edged the Matadors 59-57 in overtime at Albuquerque as junior G Brandon Romero scored a game-winning putback as time expired in the OT period.

Last time out: Saturday, the Wildcats lost at Eldorado 73-48. The Monarchs lost. at home to La Cueva 80-67.

Of note: Junior G Jakeem Wynn scored 22 points in the earlier meeting for the Cats, while Romero finished with 20. Sandia was led by 32 points from senior F Tanner Sloan. … The Matadors’ lone district win came at home on Jan. 31 against Manzano, a 69-53 verdict. They’ve lost three in a row since.

NMMI at Portales

When: 7 p.m. today in a District 4-4A matchup at the Ram Athletic Center.

Records: New Mexico Military 2-18 (0-7 district), Portales 19-3 (5-1)

First meeting: Jan. 27, the Rams cruised to a 73-33 rout over the Colts in Roswell despite playing without senior C and leading scorer Jeremie Karngbaye due to an ankle injury.

Last time out: The Colts lost at Moriarty 49-39 while the Rams notched a 61-40 win at Ruidoso on Friday.

Girls

Clovis at Sandia

When: 7 p.m. today at Albuquerque in a District 2-6A matchup.

Records: Clovis (9-15, 2-6 district), Sandia 17-5 (5-3).

First meeting: Jan. 28, the Matadors posted a 53-33 win at The Rock behind 17 points from sophomore G Sapirah Broussard and 15 from senior F Cara Liggins.

Last time out: Saturday, the Lady Cats lost at Santa Fe High 57-52 while the Matadors absorbed a 56-44 setback at district-leading La Cueva.

Of note: Sophomore G Brittni Chavez was the Lady Cats’ lone double-figure scorer in the first meeting with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Clovis trailed just 20-19 at halftime in that one before the Matadors pulled away. … Three players average in double figures for Sandia, including Liggins, Broussard (13.2) and junior C Marisol Silva (11.9).

Hope Christian at Portales

When: 5:30 p.m. today in a District 4-4A matchup at the RAC.

Records: Hope Christian 22-2 (5-0 district), Portales 14-8 (3-2)

First meeting: Feb. 3, the Huskies dispatched the Lady Rams 74-48 at Albuquerque.

Last time out: Both teams defeated Ruidoso last week. Hope posted a 57-31 victory over the Lady Warriors on Tuesday while Portales notched a 58-15 win on Friday night at Ruidoso.
