PORTALES — A former Portales woman has a warrant out for her arrest for 31 counts of forgery.
According to a Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office press release, a warrant was issued last week for the arrest of Amanda M. Hatch, 27, of Roswell for allegedly forging company checks while working at Nixon Enterprises in Portales.
According to the release, a six-month investigation by the sheriff’s office revealed Hatch to have cashed and deposited more than $221,000 into her own accounts from Nixon Enterprises over a period of two years.
“The discrepancies were not found until Hatch left her employment with Nixon Enterprises,” the release said.
Sheriff Malin Parker said after Hatch left the company, the owner temporarily placed someone else in charge of payroll and that person noticed discrepancies with bank account balances.
He said Hatch left the company in August 2016 after working there for two years.
Officials at Nixon Enterprises did not immediately respond to phone calls seeking comment. Hatch could not be reached for comment.
The forgeries were discovered after Hatch left the company and Portales, the release said. The 31 counts of forgery are all fourth-degree felonies.
Hatch has not been apprehended yet.
