ALLEN, Texas - When the Eastern New Mexico University women hit the court today against Texas A&M-Kingsville, they'll do it with the Lone Star Conference's coach of the year on the sidelines.
Josh Prock received the honor during Wednesday's postseason banquet, held annually the eve of the conference tournaments. Three of his players earned All-LSC honors, with Mikaehla Connor receiving three awards.
The top-seeded Greyhounds will face No. 8 Texas A&M-Kingsville in a 5 p.m. (MST) game at the Allen Events Center.
Prock is the third coach in ENMU history to receive an LSC coaching honor, and the fifth winner overall. The late Dan Buzard was the LSC South coach of the year in 2004, while Wayne Moore was the LSC's top coach in 1990, 1991 and 1993.
"I'm very proud of our young ladies and their accomplishments," Prock said in a release from the school. "I'm looking forward to a good tournament."
In four seasons, Prock is 45-67 in four years with the Greyhounds, who have topped their previous season win total every year he's been aboard. If the Greyhounds win the conference tournament, Prock will pass Buzard for second in all-time wins behind Moore.
Connor was named to the All-LSC first team, and also received a position on the league's all-defensive team and all-academic team.
Leading scorer Kassandra Harris earned a second-team nod. She was 17th in the LSC in scoring at 11.9 points per game, with 16 double-figure games. Sophomore Daeshi McCants, who ranked ninth in the LSC in rebounding and led the team with five double-doubles, was named to the third team.
Angelo State's Jasmine Prophet pulled off a sweep with both player of the year and defensive player of the year honors.
Tarleton State's Mackenzie Hailey was named newcomer of the year, and Jenna Price of Texas A&M-Commerce was the freshman of the year.
Connor was joined on the first team by Prophet, Hailey, Kenesha Saygo of Texas Woman's and Sasha Watson of West Texas A&M.
In the men's category, Greyhound juniors Joe Clarke and Lamarquis Thompson received honorable mention status.
