Pictured is the Roswell and Chaves County Solar Energy Centers, the largest solar facility Xcel Energy has added to its energy mix in eastern New Mexico so far. The 70-megawatt facility became operational last year. Spokesman Wes Reeves said Xcel hopes to continue to add solar to its mix as long as it remains viable.
The future might be brighter for eastern New Mexico, where solar energy is concerned as solar technology prices continue falling and the renewable energy tax credit remains.
