Truck driver arrested on meth charges

CLOVIS — Manuel Zepeda, 48, a semi-truck driver from Fresno, California, was taken into custody Thursday in the 2100 block of North Prince Street in Clovis on charges of conspiracy and possession with intent to traffic methamphetamine.

Zepeda allegedly offered to sell methamphetamine to an informant via telephone. The informant accepted the offer, arranged to meet, and then told Clovis police the alleged seller of narcotics would be arriving in Clovis from Midland, Texas.

The informant was present when Clovis police officer Dianne Calbert obtained a search warrant from Assistant District Attorney Kristen Beltran and Magistrate Court Judge Richard Hollis. Calbert then searched the truck and found evidence for the arrest. The semi-truck was towed from the scene.

The case status is active with additional charges pending.

Clovis police officials said a search warrant for Zepeda’s cell phone will be completed at a later date.
