Hounds improve to 20-5

PORTALES — The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team rallied for a 7-6, 11-inning win over Lone Star Conference foe Texas-Permian Basin in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday before Keenan Dodd and Victor Persad combined on a one-hit shutout for a 4-0 win in Game 2 at Greyhound Field.

Michael McNicholl set up the final inning by singling to the left infield and then stole second on the following pitch. Jared Gay lifted a single into left to score McNicholl and tie the game at six.

In the 11th, Garlind Webster wore a 1-1 pitch to reach base and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt. Padilla then roped a double into the left-center alley to secure the win for for the Greyhounds.

In game two, Keenan Dodd threw for five innings while striking out seven and allowing only one hit. Victor Persad then took over, throwing two no-hit innings with five strikeouts. Webster paced the offense in the nightcap, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
