Curry jail admin appointed to board

Curry County Detention Center Administrator Mark Gallegos has been appointed to the New Mexico Adult Detention Accreditation Board, according to a release from the county.

The board oversees and monitors the state’s county 208 detention standards in areas including security, medical, inmate programs and administration.

The board is tasked with ensuring facilities are meeting standards via an initial accreditation audit and three-year audits thereafter. So far, seven detention centers are accredited, with Curry County’s not on the list.

“Curry County and (the) Adult Detention Accreditation Board is very fortunate to have Mr. Gallegos on the board,” County Manager Lance Pyle said. “His fast knowledge and experience will aide the board and the counties, as well as Curry County, as we move forward with achieving our goal to be the next detention facility to become accredited.”
