Andrew Puebla wants to major in sports medicine or sports management at either Eastern New Mexico University or New Mexico Junior College. He participated in basketball, agriculture, and track in high school.
What are your hobbies outside of school?
Just hang out with friends and play sports.
Describe your proudest moment in high school.
Probably getting third place in state track. I came in at the eighth spot and ended up upsetting most teams.
Charlyn Simpson plans to attend Lubbock Christian University, where she will major in biblical studies. In high school, she participated in Business Professionals of America.
Who was your best friend in high school, and how have they made you a better person?
My best friend is Jessica Barron, and she has made me a better person because she encourages me to be myself and she supports me in everything I do. She's taught me that you love someone no matter what. Even whenever they're having a bad day, you still stick with them. She showed me what a real friend is like.
What is the funniest thing that's happened to you in high school?
I'm kind of a serious person. I'm like a goody two shoes.
April Fleming does not have any concrete plans after high school, but would like to become an elementary teacher. She was in marching band, Future Farmers of America, BPA and track in high school.
What was your favorite class in high school?
Math, because all the rules are the same the whole time. Nothing changes.
What are you the most passionate about, and why?
I like to draw, because I can do it well.
Daniel Stephens wants to attend South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, to study mechanical engineering. He participated in rodeo in high school.
What is the weirdest thing that's ever happened to you in high school?
I don't know, honestly.
Describe the moment you realized what you were passionate about?
When I was a little kid, I picked up a rope and just wanted to try it (rodeo), so after that, I really liked it.
Shaun Miller plans to work for his father after high school, after which he will decide if he wants to attend college to become an electrical contractor. He participated in basketball, baseball and football in high school.
Who was your favorite teacher in high school, and why?
Coach Tellez, he was my baseball coach back in Portales. He always knew what to tell me when I was down, or if I ever needed anything, he would be there for me.
What has been your favorite part of high school?
Probably just hanging out with my buddies on the basketball trips.
Gema Villanueva will attend ENMU to study social work. In high school, she participated in BPA.
If you could describe your high school career in a song, what would it be?
It's “Blue Ain't Your Color” by Keith Urban, because our school color is red.
What is the most important lesson you learned in high school?
To not worry what other people think of you. Just worry about yourself, and if you like yourself, that's fine.
