CLOVIS — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting someone Saturday afternoon in Clovis.
Damion Davis, 20, was arrested Monday afternoon on the 400 block of North Hull Street.
Officers served a warrant at the address, where they say two days earlier Davis hit a man in the head repeatedly before shooting him in the shoulder and firing at his escaping truck.
The alleged victim, 47, was initially uncooperative with police detectives, according to a press release. Officers responded Saturday around 5 p.m. to the 200 block of Connelly Street, where they found the alleged victim with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, a bullet hole in his windshield and “what appeared to be blood smeared on the driver’s seat and tailgate.”
He was brought to a hospital near Lubbock for medical care.
After speaking with a state police officer, the alleged victim said he went to an address Saturday on the 400 block of North Hull Street and encountered Davis, who began fighting him. He said Davis was “still actively shooting” at him while the alleged victim fled in his car.
Davis was arrested at 1:05 p.m. Monday, charged with assault with intent to commit a violent felony, aggravated battery, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, and felon in possession of a firearm. He is currently incarcerated at Curry County jail in lieu of a $35,000 cash only bond.
A lawyer for Davis could not be immediately identified.
Clovis Police Capt. Roman Romero said the case is still under investigation.
