Man held after residence searched

PORTALES — A Roosevelt County man is being held at the Roosevelt County Detention Center without bond after authorities executed a search warrant on his residence Monday morning.

Eduviges Ortiz-Sanchez, 26, was charged with criminal sexual contact of a minor, child abuse, trafficking cocaine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (all felonies), according to a press release by the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

The search warrant, which was executed with assistance from New Mexico State Police and the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, found 53 pounds of marijuana and just under one pound of cocaine, as well as $8,254 in cash, scales, packing materials and numerous firearms, according to the release.
