Meetings watch: Curry County Commission

The following are items on the agenda for the Curry County Commission meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library:

• Eight budget hearings, beginning with an update on the preliminary 2017-18 budget. Requested items include barn heaters for the road department, road maintenance software, treasury software, detention center kitchen equipment and courthouse security employees.

• Presentations covering an economic program, progress on the Broadview Fire Station construction and Xcel Energy wind facilities.

• A request to offer $65,000 to an information technology director candidate. The salary is above the mid-point of $60,386 and requires commission approval. The position has been vacant since December when Aaron Jones left for a similar position in Artesia. If the $65,000 salary is approved, the candidate is willing to start May 8.

• Approval of preliminary state funding for various improvements on county roads. The New Mexico Department of Transportation provides $153,000, while the county would provide $51,000 as its 25 percent match.

• A contract for engineering services on construction management and re-roofing of the east wing of the Curry County Courthouse and Juvenile Detention Center.

• A budget adjustment of $28,000 from cash reserves to pay for a courthouse security position approved last month by commissioners.

• An executive session following the meeting for the acquisition or disposal of property.
