Clovis senior profiles

Editor’s note: This is one in a series of profiles about graduating high school seniors in the area.

Myra Grimes has been active in tennis, student council, National Honor Society and French club. She is a student Rotarian, a Clovis Carver Public Library board member and a student intern. Myra plans to major in biology, and enter surgical residency after completing medical school.

What will you be doing next year, and what led you to that decision?

The BA/MD program at the University of New Mexico.

Why did you choose the University of New Mexico?

My internship with Dr. (David) Stalker in Clovis made me want to be a surgeon.

Stevee Marez has as her goal the completion of the nursing program at Clovis Community College, then transferring to Texas Tech to earn her master’s degree in the science of nursing. After that, Stevee wants to build a career in Texas as a nurse practitioner in anesthesiology. She plans to work in a hospital or in private practice.

What will you miss most about high school?

I’ll miss the relationship with high school students and faculty because college will be more centered around myself.

What are your goals for the future?

After I had surgery, I saw how valuable and influential healthcare professionals are, and it made me want to pursue my MSN.
