RUIDOSO — Portales High’s boys shot a four-man score of 309 on Monday to claim the title in the District 4/1-4A golf tournament at The Links at Sierra Blanca, beating out Hope Christian by five shots.
Senior Thomas Tulk took individual medalist honors for the Rams, shooting a 71 for a three-shot margin over teammate Austin Davis. The Rams’ Mario Cordova finished in a tie for fifth place with a 78.
Meantime, Ruidoso took girls team honors at 401, with Portales second at 413 and Texico third at 419. The Lady Warriors’ Lexi Lucero was the individual medalist with an 80, while Texico’s Hannah Rucker was third at 94.
Both PHS squads and the Texico girls have qualified for state competition next Monday and Tuesday at Pinon Hills Golf Course in Farmington.
