CLOVIS — A Clovis man was convicted Wednesday of a pair of felonies connected to an August traffic stop, according to a release from the Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s office.
Sentencing is scheduled for Friday for Cesar Rodriguez, 36. He was charged with aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer and possession of a controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor charges for resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. He faces up to 21 years in prison.
According to a release from the office, Rodriguez led police on a high-speed pursuit which law enforcement dropped out of for safety reasons. When he was located later, he was arrested and drugs and paraphernalia were discovered in his vehicle, according to the release.
The case was tried by Assistant District Attorney Claire Adams. Rodriguez’ attorney, Jonathan Miller of Albuquerque, declined comment.
