Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Bet you’ve got a name of your favorite auto mechanic.
Guessing you also have a favorite place to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Wagering, too, there’re favorite places you enjoy shopping — whether it be for clothing, groceries or home furnishings.
Well, now’s the time to let us know who your “bests” are in Clovis and Portales.
The ballots for these wildly popular publications appear in today’s edition on Pages 4C and 5C in our Lifestyles section.
This marks the 22nd consecutive year we’ll publish a “Best of Clovis” section and the 19th straight for “Best of Portales.”
This will be the first time we publish these sections under our new Eastern New Mexico News moniker. Rest assured, though, that we’ll award separate winners from Clovis and Portales in each category. That part won’t change.
We have fine-tuned a few categories and added a couple of new ones. We encourage you to grab a ballot — and feel free to fill out one for Clovis and one for Portales — and have your voice heard in the voting process.
And there’s an incentive to vote. Call it bribery or what you will, but we’re giving away $100 to one randomly drawn voter. Can’t beat free money, right?
Besides today, ballots will also appear in Wednesday’s edition as well as next Sunday and on June 21. All ballots are due to either of our Clovis or Portales offices by the end of the day on June 28.
A couple of rules to remember:
n Only one entry per person.
n No photocopied ballots will be accepted.
n Vote for at least 10 categories.
n Mail in or drop off your ballot at one of our offices.
We will announce the winners in July, assuming there aren’t any “hanging chads.” Sorry, couldn’t resist a shot at the good old state of Florida from 2000. Google it if you’re too young to remember that fiasco.
We’ll publish a section in the paper that’ll include all of the winners and again hold soirees to recognize the honorees in person and give them their awards. It’s always a fun time.
Winners love rubbing shoulders with other winners. I guess it’s part of our DNA.
I’m looking forward to seeing the thoughts of our loyal readers. As you hear during many Novembers: “Get out the vote.”
