1947: Mrs. W.E. Hayes and daughter Margaret of Clovis were making "arrangements for a grand trip and sight-seeing tour of New York City," according to a society column in the Clovis News-Journal.
"Since this will be their first experience flying by air and their first visit to New York City, they are really looking forward to a wonderful time."
The same column — "Up and Down the Street" — reported Skinny Holland, Murray Clark and Bill Snyder had returned from three days fishing at Conchas Dam.
1947: The Modern Eve Shop inside Clovis' Antlers Hotel on Main Street was offering "bargains galore," according to a newspaper advertisement.
All pedal pushers and short suits with bra were half price.
Costume jewelry was also half price.
One lot of dresses "valued to $12.50," was on sale for $4 each.
