'Aggravated battery incident' sends at least one to hospital

CLOVIS — Witnesses said at least one person was taken to the Clovis hospital on Wednesday night after what police described as an "aggravated battery incident" near the intersection of Tierra Blanca and Gidding streets.

Two cars were towed from the scene. One had a badly damaged front windshield.

Police spokesman Roger Dial declined to provide additional information.

The incident happened about 8:30 p.m. and police were on the scene for about two hours.

Dial said additional information would be provided Thursday morning.
