1952: About 1,500 farm families in Roosevelt County "will have telephones in the near future," the Clovis News-Journal reported.

Telephone board President Ben McAlister said work on connecting the lines was expected to start early in July.

1952: The Furniture Mart, Inc., at 112 W. Second St. in Clovis, promoted itself as "the swappinest-tradingest furniture store in the country."

Refrigerators were on sale for $219.50.

"Hollywood style" decorator headboards were $12.95.

The entire stock of table lamps and mirrors was half price.
