Information on sculpting yeast dough, working with embossing folders, and making Treat Pops will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and on Thursday at noon. (All times are Mountain.)
Charlene Patton is with the Home Baking Assn., and she’s going to show how to sculpt yeast dough into rolls, a bread basket, and even a turtle and alligator. She says this activity provides lots of fun family baking opportunities. Patton is from Topeka, Kansas.
Diane Tunnell is an Independent Demonstrator with Stampin’ Up!, and she’s going to demonstrate how to use a brayer to apply ink to an embossing folder to create the background for a card. She also has some other techniques she’ll show. She lives in Clovis.
Nancy Siler represents Wilton Brands in Woodridge, Illinois, and she’s going to demonstrate how to make Treat Pops, which are sweet, individual servings of cake layered with icing or a favorite filling and topped with a festive accent suitable for any occasion.
Information on candles, choosing happiness after a divorce, and making fringe flowers will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” on Tuesday at noon and on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Rita Fuentes is an independent consultant with PartyLite in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and she says that not all candles are created alike. It’s what you can’t see that defines the real art of candle making and this determines whether you get a good clean burn.
Author Jane Thompson will talk about dating and choosing a second mate based on her book “Choosing Happiness After Divorce.” She will also share some suggested resources, as well as demonstrate a recipe titled “I Don’t Pesto Pizza for One!” Thompson lives in Memphis, Tennessee.
Designer and digitizer, Laura Waterfield, owner of Laura’s Sewing Studio, says that fringe flowers add additional dimension to embroidery designs. She’ll demonstrate several types of fringe flowers that can be made with an embroidery machine. She’s from Tomball, Texas.
Treat pops
What is a treat pop? A treat pop is a portable cake and icing treat assembled in a see-through container. Use the stick on the bottom of the treat pop to push the layers of cake and icing — or a sweet favorite treat and filling – up as you eat it.
Types of cake for your treat pops. Begin with your favorite recipe or cake mix. There are three convenient ways to make circles of cake perfectly sized for your treat pop!
Cake circles. Use a 12 inch x 18 inch x 1 inch jelly roll pan. Prepare cake batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cake completely according to pan package directions. Cut out cake rounds using the smallest round (1 3/4 inch) cutter from 101 Cookie Cutters Set.
Mini whoopie pies. Use the mini whoopie pie pan. Prepare whoopie pie batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool according to pan package directions.
Mini cupcakes. Use the mini muffin pan. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Spray mini muffin pan with Bake Easy! non-stick spray and fill cavities half full. Bake and cool following pan package directions. Use a knife to cut crowns off of mini muffins to level tops, if necessary.
