1972: A three-striped inhabitant of Cannon Air Force Base tried to gain unauthorized access to the 32nd Air Division Headquarters.
Usually the security team would be called but this time a different type of specialist was needed -an entomologist team. The intruder was a skunk.
The team extracted the animal with long poles, navigating it and any friend it may have brought with it into cages.
1972: Lanny Cotten, 17, used his expertise as a gas station attendant to help the police catch a petty larsonist stealing from Williamson's Enco.
Cotten had been keeping an eye on the cash register from the car wash station when he heard the cash register open and noticed a man pick something up from the floor.
The man had been trying to steal $10 from the register but was arrested after Cotten alerted his sister and had her call the police.
