Sign unveiling set for Friday

CLOVIS — Curry County has scheduled an unveiling event for its new events center and fairgrounds sign 3:30 p.m. Friday at 1900 E. Brady Ave., according to a county release.

The sign was constructed by Texico High School’s FFA welding program and welding instructor Terry Whitener, with the school’s involvement suggested by County Commissioner Robert Thornton.

“It’s exciting to see the young people in our community get involved,” said Thornton, a Texico High grad, “and build something that can be admired in years to come as something they did for their community.”
