One injured in accident involving Farwell police officer

FARWELL — One person was treated and released from a local hospital after a Sunday night traffic accident that involved a Farwell police officer and vehicle.

Parmer County Sheriff Randy Geries said Officer Alexis Cisneros was “working radar” on U.S. 60 on Sunday night when he made a u-turn in front of a vehicle he did not see.

“It was 100 percent the officer’s fault,” Geries said. Cisneros was cited for failure to yield right of way, the sheriff said.

The injured passenger in the other vehicle was taken to the Clovis hospital “mostly as a precaution I think,” the sheriff said.

Farwell Police Chief Larry Kelsay said Cisneros was not injured.

“He was just trying to make a u-turn to catch up to a car that was exceeding the posted speed limit and turned in front of somebody,” Kelsay said.
