ENMU women's basketball unveils slate

Schedule includes three D-I exhibitions

PORTALES — Before getting to the business of defending the Lone Star Conference championship, Eastern New Mexico University will have a pair of Division-I tuneups in late October and early November.

The university released a 30-game schedule this weekend, which begins with exhibition games Oct. 30 at Arizona and Nov. 1 at University of New Mexico

The Greyhounds, 20-9 last season, will begin regular season play with a pair of games in Durango, Colorado — Nov. 10 against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Nov. 11 against Fort Lewis — then return to Colorado the following week for a third exhibition game against Division I Colorado State.

Eastern enters its fifth year under Josh Prock, who was named the LSC coach of the year in March.

“We are excited about our schedule this season,” Prock said. “It will definitely be a challenging playing some of the best teams in our region in our non-conference portion of our schedule and then as always playing in the Lone Star is a huge task. Also, giving our ladies the opportunity to play three Division I teams in University of Arizona, UNM and Colorado State will be a fun opportunity for our team.”

The Lone Star Conference season opens Nov. 30, with the Greyhounds taking on Texas-Permian Basin in a 5:30 p.m. affair at Greyhound Arena.

After a Dec. 16 road game against St. Mary’s and a Dec. 30 battle with Lubbock Christian at home, the final 16 games are against LSC opponents.
